Pair of torches or large candlesticks in patinated and gilded bronze. Tripod model with baluster shaft and claw feet on an ormolu terrace. Restoration-early 19th century Empire style, circa 1820.
A handsome, elegant model with meticulous finishing. A good complement to an Empire or early 19th-century decoration.
They are in excellent condition. The mercury gilding is extremely fresh, as is the patina of the bronze. They look like new despite their 200 years of age. Our candlesticks have probably been displayed and stored under globes, as was the fashion in the early 19th century, which explains their extraordinary state of preservation, to satisfy the most demanding collectors.
