A rare pair of Empire period gilt and brown patinated bronze candlesticks.
Delivered by Claude Galle (1759-1815) in 1807 for the Palace of Fontainebleau, this model is found, according to the 1810 inventory, in one of the salons of the Cour des Princes (No. 9). The National Archives describe his candlesticks as follows: "Two candlesticks, round palmette feet, baluster stem, tulip-shaped at the bottom, 0.28 m."
These candlesticks are referenced in the catalog of bronze furnishings brought to Fontainebleau under the First Empire, by Jean Pierre Samoyault. No. 173.

Original gilding and patina, in a very beautiful state of preservation.

    Empire period.

    Height: 28 cm.
