This type of candlestick was produced by l'Escalier de cristal in Paris.
In very good condition
*Heir to the great merchant-merchants of the 18th century, l'Escalier de Cristal was a famous firm under the Restoration. It was probably founded in 1802 by Mme veuve Barthélemy Desarnaud, at 162 and 163, rue de Valois.
Crystal cutting made great strides under the Restoration, with various factories contributing: Saint-Louis, Baccarat and Le Creusot. Crystal objects were often entrusted to "metteurs en oeuvre" such as Madame Désarnaud.
She was the first retailer of her time to offer clocks, candelabras and ornamental vases combining cut crystal and gilded bronze.
