Pair of polychrome bronze candleholders, made in Mexico in the second half of the 20th century. Each piece depicts a seated public writer holding a tablet on his lap, topped by a stylized floral motif serving as a bobèche. The deliberately archaic style is inspired by pre-Columbian iconography. The whole piece has a golden-brown patina with red accents, particularly on the belts.
