Architecture description: <!--/data/user/0/com.samsung.android.app.notes/files/clipdata/clipdata_bodytext_250604_191011_915.sdocx--> Magnificent presence and elegance.

These candelabras, of remarkable elegance and presence, are designed in chased and gilded bronze. Each piece features three arms of light, inspired by the classical shapes of Greek sheaths and scrolls. Their rich decoration is adorned with asparagus and fluting, ending in goat shanks covered with stylized acanthus leaves.

At the center of each candelabra sits a flaming torch with concave sections, resting on a truncated column base adorned with rosettes. The magnificent circular base, with its elegant curves, is adorned with large drooping acanthus leaves.

The three light points feature delightful hollow basins, richly decorated with acanthus leaves, gadroons and a laurel wreath. From these basins rise bins in the shape of antique vases, mounted on fluted and grooved pedestals adorned with laurel leaves. The bobèches are delicately decorated with pearls.

Thanks to their versatile design, these candelabra will blend harmoniously into many decors, whether placed on tables, consoles, chests of drawers, secretaries or mantelpiece entablatures.<!--/data/user/0/com.samsung.android.app.notes/files/clipdata/clipdata_body_text_250604_191031_028.sdocx-->

Condition report: Very good overall condition, beautiful original gilding with matte and gloss. Traces of use and age. Fine chiseling of great execution.

Provenance: Private Parisian Collection, Period: Napoleon III XIXth century.

The elaborate design of these candelabras evokes the projects of architects and ornamentalists such as Jean-Louis Prieur, Victor Louis and Jean-Charles Delafosse. It is probably the latter's name that should be remembered as the originator of the model, if we are to believe a drawing representing a candelabra project where we find certain similarities with our pair, notably in the termination of the arms. The composition is rigorously symmetrical, perfectly balanced despite the presence of three light arms, and designed to allow the object to be appreciated from all angles. Stylistically, it asserts a certain rigor linked to the influence of Greek taste and inspired by the classicism of Louis XIV, or even a reminiscence of certain projects by André-Charles Boulle. A pair of candelabra of this model is in the Jones collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (985-1882).

This pair of candelabra, featuring superb casting and chasing, is identical to a pair in the manner of Jean-Charles Delafosse (1734-1789).
