Elegant Italian six-light chandelier, crafted in finely modelled white porcelain and hand-painted in a delicate palette of pink, blue, yellow and green. The central stem, scrolling arms and drip pans are richly decorated with floral garlands, bouquets and small applied flowers in relief, enhanced with touches of gilding.
The particularly elaborate central stem features refined horizontal bands in soft pastel tones, adorned with applied flowers in relief, while the overall composition elegantly evokes the Rococo taste and decorative Italian productions of the mid-20th century.
With its profusion of sculpted flowers, polychrome decoration and highly theatrical silhouette, this chandelier belongs to the tradition of Italian decorative creations made in the style of the celebrated Capodimonte porcelain tradition of Naples. More precisely, it should be described as an Italian production in the taste of Capodimonte, rather than attributed directly to the manufacture, as there is no mark allowing such an attribution to be confirmed.
The chandelier reflects the mid-20th-century Italian taste for richly ornamented porcelain decorative objects and makes a particularly striking statement in an interior, whether displayed in a collector's setting or used to bring a refined, distinctly Baroque presence to a decorative scheme.
