Mid-century floor lamp designed by Angelo Lelii and manufactured by Arredoluce in 1958. This 12705 model features a curved brass base, vertical stem and screws, and two molded opal glass shades covering the ten light sources. Original switch with manufacturer's stamp.

    Angelo Lelli (1911-1989)
Angelo Lelli was the founder of Arredoluce, an Italian company specializing in lighting editions, active from 1947 to 1987.
Born in 1911 in the Ancona region, he moved with his family to northern Italy to study at the ISIA (Higher Institute of Industrial Art) of the University of Decorative Arts in Monza, on the outskirts of Milan.
It was also in Monza that, in 1939, he began working in a small basement workshop, producing lamps and chandeliers with clean lines, great attention to detail and the application of the latest technologies. After his work was interrupted by the war, in 1946 three of his designs were featured in Domus magazine.

Arredoluce was founded in Monza in 1947 by Angelo Lelli. Over the following decades, the company's collaborators included such renowned designers as Giò Ponti, Ettore Sottsass, Pier Giacomo and Achille Castiglioni. Angelo Lelii's best-known creations are the Triennale floor lamp, model 12128 (1947) and the Cobra table lamp (1964), which became famous for its unique shape and the low voltage used to incorporate the transformer in its base. Other iconic luminaires include the Tris lamp (1946), the Eye floor lamp (1950), the Stella ceiling lamp (1950) and the President table lamp (1970).

Thanks to Angelo Lelii's unique approach to lighting design, Arredoluce quickly earned a reputation for creating first-rate luminaires based on clean, simple and functional designs. And that's why Lelii's lamps are so sought-after by collectors and midcentury design enthusiasts.
A catalog raisonné of his designs has been published in Italy by Silvana Editoriale, "Arredoluce 1943 - 1987 catalog raisonné".
