Unique floor lamp by French sculptor and artist Louis Durot.
This luminous sculpture is composed of two symmetrically cut and folded sheets of steel.
Louis Durot
Born in Paris in 1939, Louis Durot is a chemical engineer renowned worldwide for his mastery of polyurethane. He is one of the last living, active Pop Art designers.
His unique expertise in polyurethane opened the doors to César Baldaccini's studio, where their collaboration gave rise to the playful "Expansions" sculpture series.
Durot's furniture pieces are highly innovative and novel, drawing inspiration from comic-book forms. Expanding his repertoire of materials, he has incorporated metal, particularly in the creation of lighting fixtures. These fixtures are meticulously crafted from sheets of stainless steel, skilfully shaped into elegant, stylized forms.
A key figure in the history of contemporary French design, Louis Durot embodies the facets of both artist and designer. His creations are not only functional, they are also a pleasure to look at and use.
