Large Italian desk lamp, Medusa by Alfredo Bardini in Murano Venini glass circa 1960.
This lamp is original, beautifully crafted and highly sought-after.
It is signed on the base and bears a sticker from the Bardini glassworks.
Barbini began his long career in 1925, at the age of 13, working in the SAIAR Ferro Toso factory. In 1929, he joined Cristalleria di Venezia e Murano as a master glassmaker. He left this company in 1932 to work in a glass workshop in Milan, but returned to Murano to work first for the new company Zecchin & Martinuzzi, then for Seguso Vetri d'Arte. From 1936 to 1944, he was a partner and master glassmaker at Societa Anonima Vetri Artistici Murano, known as SAVAM.
