    Description :
    Bronze and partial carvings.

These andirons represent two putti on a naturalistic arcade in foliage.
One of the putti carries a mace, the other puts his hand on the head of a snake.
The representation of the putti is similar to the stone bas-reliefs of the time (Renaissance bas-relief photo in the Chateaudun museum), detailed but acromegalic extremities, non-existent neck, serpent very dated in its representation.
These andirons are a rare document because they are usually made of wrought iron. They imitated a rare high-quality model in bronze at the time, but remained sketchy in detail.
A flange fixing for the log holder was welded in the 19th century, the original fixing can still be seen by large tapped holes in the front.

    State :
    Good condition without accident.
