Round, rifled barrel, marked on the top "COLTS PT. F. A. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." and "38 W.C.F." on the left side.
Steel frame marked on the left side "PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871. JULY 2. 72. JAN. 19. 75.", engraved with a rearing colt in an oval medallion, and serial numbered "180272" on the underside.
Six-shot cylinder with six flutes and six notches.
Blue checkered trigger and hammer.
Locking plate numbered "915". Stock and trigger guard are serialized.
Checkered ebonite grips, marked with the Colt foal and featuring the bald eagle—symbol of the United States.
Single-action, percussion mechanism.

All parts are matching numbers.
