An administrative officer's sword from the Napoleonic era. Brass hilt with a richly decorated guard. Pommel with lion heads and helmeted Minerva heads. Ferrules decorated with laurel leaves and palmettes. The guard depicts the uncrowned imperial eagle holding Jupiter's thunderbolt in its talons, framed by an oak branch and a sprig (during the presidency of Napoleon III, 1848-1852). Ebony grip. Triangular blade with no markings and a gray patina. Good overall condition with signs of use; slight oxidation at the base of the blade.
