This is one of the most impressive and important bayonets of the British Victorian era!
Extremely rare, British East India Company sapper's and miner's sword bayonet made by Heighington. Designed to fit the P1841 carbine of a British sapper and miner, it also fits all East India Company muskets with a 75 caliber and the straight-style F-style bayonet spring latch.

This bayonet features a 562 mm single-edged blade with a flat spine and deep single fuller on both sides. The last 12 cm of the upper edge is sharpened and the blade ends in a spear point. The blade is in good, rust-free condition, with only slight age-related dulling and a few small areas of very shallow pitting. This bayonet was made between 1845/1847.
This very hard-to-find bayonet has an overall length of 695 mm and is in good overall condition with a beautiful age-related gray patina (with orange streaks).
Guaranteed original, it is a "must have" bayonet for many collectors.
