French Navy officer's saber, 1837 regulation model, 20th century, circa 1950.
Main features:

Hilt: Richly chased gilded brass, with an openwork guard adorned with the traditional cable-wrapped naval anchor, foliage, and a crossguard ending in a dolphin’s head.
Handle: Molded black synthetic material (Bakelite/plastic) with fluting.
Blade: Straight blade with hollow sides and blood grooves, white finish, no manufacturer’s markings.
Sheath: Made of stiff black leather with two gold-plated brass pommel buttons, decorated with the anchor and a scallop shell at the tip.
