    Complete Samurai Armor
    Japan, Edo Period (1603-1868)
    17th Century
    Iron, lacquer, silk, horsehair

    Kabuto of the kōseizan suji-bachi type, with carved tehen, hachi with thirty-two suji, lacquered leather shikoro with five blades, iron mabizashi with three rivets, yellow silk agemaki, maedate in the shape of a gilded crescent moon.
    Mempo of the nara type, carved with wrinkles, with a horsehair mustache; mengu composed of four lacquered strips.
    Do in two parts covered with black lacquer, tateage and kabuki dū composed of eight black lacquered strips, munalta, oshitsuke no ita and wakilta in a set.
    Jinboari in navy blue, beige, and red silk; the back depicting a mon ku-yō (nine stars; ku = nine). jô-mon (main coat of arms) of the Kitsu-kawa clan, Makit-ta, Oku-daïra of O-bata, Sakura-i, Sô-ma, To-da of Ô-gaki, To-da (K), Tsuchi-ya; kaye-mon (secondary coat of arms) of Da-té, Hiji-kata, I-tô of Oka-da, Maki-no of Ta-nabe and Ko-muro, Oku-daïra of Oshi, Nam-bu, Ô-gyû of Fu-naï, Ô-ku-bo of Karasu-yama, Sakaki-bara, To-zawa.
    Kote in navy blue silk with tekko, shino in lacquered iron.
    Kusazuri in lacquer composed of seven strips, hishinui no ita in silk.
    Haidate with chikara-gawa in patterned beige silk, Iyo in lacquered iron.
    Suneate in leather and black lacquered iron elements.
