Fireplace mirror – Louis-Philippe period – Stuccoed wood gilded with gold leaf

Louis-Philippe period fireplace mirror, second quarter of the 19th century, entirely original.

Vertical rectangular format with two rounded upper corners and two straight lower corners. Stuccoed wooden frame gilded with gold leaf, retaining its original gilding with engraved decoration with geometric patterns of diamonds and crosses all around the perimeter, and beaded rosary molding surrounding the mirror. Old mercury ice with pronounced foxing, pitting and haze characteristic of natural aging. Reverse in assembled raw wood planks, typical of 19th century craftsmanship.

Workshop observation: open cracks at the two lower corners of the frame; lack of gilding revealing the red bowl layer; generalized wear consistent with the age of the part. Gilding work to be planned on missing areas. Ice cream as is.
