Large Louis-Philippe style fireplace mirror, dating from the mid-19th century. Its rectangular frame with classic moldings - cavetto and torus profile - testifies to the sober refinement characteristic of the period.
The gold leaf gilding rests on a red-brown Armenian bowl, visible in places where the gilding has patinated over time: a window open to the traditional technique, and to the authenticity of the piece. The corners, assembled in miters, bear the benevolent marks of the years - light cracks and traces of old restorations - which give it this character that only time can give.
The back is reinforced with a plywood panel, discreet consolidation added later to preserve the whole. The piece needs to be restored: a beautiful gilding has been found, and this mirror will regain all its former shine.
Height 125 cm, weight 20 kg. Perfect above a stone fireplace, in a classic interior or in an entryway with a romantic soul. A piece of character, ready to find its place in your interior.
