Large wood mantel mirror carved with palmettes and strings of pearls, gilded with gold leaf, mercury mirror with glittery sheen. Late 18th or early 19th century, in the Directoire style circa 1800.

While the structure and silhouette remain resolutely in the Louis XVI style, the stylistic scope of the motifs (palmettes) announces the Empire style.

Our mirror is a large format, well-suited to natural use as a mantelpiece or chest of drawers. Beautiful frame with bold moldings.

Everything is original: gold leaf gilding in good condition, cleaned by our gilder, unblemished mercury glass, original parquet flooring at the back. All in very good condition.
