Large carved and gilded wood mirror with gold leaf, pediment model adorned with a medallion topped with ribbon bows presenting the fable of the Fox and the Stork, by Jean de la Fontaine, the edges flanked by laurel and foliage falls, our mirror is a Lyonnais or Rhône Valley work of the Louis XVI period (late 18th century).

Our mirror is complete with rich, finely carved Louis XVI decoration and its two-part mercury mirror is the original.

A large, highly decorative piece in good condition. The gold leaf gilding is the original 18th-century gilding, which has been cleaned by our gilder. The mercury glaze is also the original, with a glittery sheen.
