Large Empire period floor mirror – Gilt bronze – 19th century

Large Empire period parquet mirror, first quarter of the 19th century, with a rectangular frame in solid wood stained dark burgundy mahogany.

The upper pediment is decorated with a finely chiseled gilded bronze lion's head. The entire perimeter of the frame is punctuated with gilded bronze rosettes arranged at regular intervals. The glass, of monumental size (total height: 248 cm, weight: 80 kg), shows slight foxing and traces of wear on the tin, characteristic of an old glass. The reverse reveals a construction of raw wooden planks assembled into a panel, reinforced by cross-shaped crosspieces, testifying to traditional 19th century carpentry work. Some scratches are visible on the frame; the general structure is well preserved. Patina and wear consistent with the age of the piece. Any restoration remains possible on request from our workshops.
