Charles Euphrasie Kuwwaseg was a pupil of Durand-Brager and Eugène Isabey. But he began his career as a long-distance sailor before becoming an official painter, exhibiting picturesque views of Normandy and elsewhere at the Paris Salon from 1855 onwards. Today, his works can be found in numerous museums, including the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Rouen, Rennes and Fécamp.
