Biography: Painter Marcelle Guetta was born in Alexandria, Egypt, on January 16, 1922. From an early age, she felt the need to express herself through art. A friend of Marcel Laurent Salinas, a lawyer, but above all a painter, and himself a friend of André Lhôte, then Picasso (with whom he collaborated), and many others, she was immersed in the cultural movement of the 40s/50s. In particular, she lived in Alexandria, a cosmopolitan city at the time, where a variety of artists rubbed shoulders in a prestigious setting known as the Alliance Française, which enabled artists to meet and take part in all the major events, including, for example, the 3rd Alexandria Biennial in 1958, under the presidency of Nasser. Marcelle Guetta was soon noticed and appreciated, and became a rising star in Alexandria. Unfortunately, in the years that followed, Egyptian politics led to massive departures to other destinations, the United States, Canada and Europe, where Marcelle Guetta, who became "Guetta Fattal", chose to settle with her family. She remained in Paris, France, where she continued her artistic activity through painting and sculpture, taking part in numerous exhibitions until the end of her life, without ever stopping. Marcelle Guetta Fattal died in Paris on November 29, 2009, leaving a rich, joyful body of work, full of hope and life.
