This is a very pretty watercolor pochade depicting a wooded landscape. On the back of the sheet is a pencil indication "Brunet" (the author's name?) and l'Etang du curé (Burgundy: l'Etang du curé à Rancy?). This watercolor is charming and of fine quality, the technique is mastered and one senses great freedom in the treatment of foliage and sky. The work is presented in its frame with passe partout and gilded rod (original gilding). Size 21 x 29 (leaf) and overall 35 x 43. Dated mid-twentieth century.
