    Accustomed to the banks of the Saintonge and the Charentes, the Gironde estuary or the views of the Périgord, the painter Louis-Alexandre Cabié (1853 - 1939) is a small master dear to the heart of the people of Bordeaux (among others!). He painted charming landscapes for the Vieillard earthenware factory, but his life was difficult. He exhibited and received the Legion of Honor, but he died sadly in poverty in Bordeaux.
    His work, influenced by the first impressionism of Camille Corot, reveals a remarkable sensitivity to atmospheres, a sure but soft and light palette. From his paintings emerges a dreamy contemplation in the velvety light of the end of the day.
    This view, probably a view of the Gironde estuary, uses mixed media. The painter has signed, dated and dedicated his painting in the lower left corner. Perfect condition.
