Born in Le Mans on February 10, 1885 and died in Villemoison on October 18, 1972.
Julien Alphonse Leclerc was a French draughtsman and painter.
He studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
From 1918 onwards, he worked regularly with newspapers and magazines: La Vie Parisienne, La Baïonnette, Le Sourire, Paris Plaisirs, Bagatelle, Fantasio, Le Rire, L'Esprit de Paris, L'Illustration etc...
He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français (paintings, pastels) and also at the Salon des Humoristes from 1920 to 1935 (cartoons).
He also illustrated many popular magazines (collection Fama, La Parisienne, La Belle Aventure, Bibliothèque d'Eve, Tallandier, Baudinière, Hachette etc.) and produced superb illustrations and covers for erotic and spy novels.
His association with Roger Dermée allows him to use his talent on dozens of editions.
He signs Julien Jacques Leclerc, Jacques Leclerc, Jacques, JL or JIHEL.
