Old oil painting on canvas depicting the discovery of the stolen cup in Benjamin's sack.
Having found his brothers, who had sold him into slavery many years before, Joseph, without being recognized, showers them with gifts and asks them to return to Egypt with his father and his younger brother because he wants to reunite his family in the country where he has become one of the most important officials of the pharaoh.
But since on the next trip, they show up with little Benjamin but not with his father Jacob, Joseph is forced to devise a plan to get what he wants.
So he has the sovereign's silver cup hidden in Benjamin's sack, in order to keep him for himself as a slave, so that the next time the father, so attached to his younger son, comes on a trip.
The scene of the Discovery of the stolen cup in Benjamin's sack shows a group of armed men who, after stopping the group of brothers, open everyone's bags, including that of little Benjamin.
Compressed in a small space, the numerous figures are crammed into various poses, sometimes from the front, sometimes from the side, sometimes from the back, but without straying too far from tradition, as evidenced by the strong isocephaly of the characters.
The painting technique, on the other hand, is more current, with the use of bright colors and iridescent effects, as well as an accentuated use of nuances to restore volume effects.
