    Léa Lafugie is a French painter born in Paris, known for her portraits and landscapes from her travels. She studied at the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, then at the Académie des Beaux-Arts, and began her career exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants.
    Fascinated from an early age by tales of travel and adventure, she decided to travel to North Africa in 1924, then to Asia in 1925. She visited India, Burma, Tibet, the Indochinese peninsula and the Far East. During these travels, she never stopped painting and depicting what she discovered and the people she met.
    This portrait, taken during a trip to Cambodia, shows a young girl concentrating on her work. The portrait exudes gentleness and serenity. Oil on wood panel. Signed lower left.

    Léa Lafugie was a French painter born in Paris, known for her portraits and landscapes inspired by her travels. She studied at the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris and later at the Academy of Fine Arts, beginning her career by exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants.


    Passionate about travel and adventure from a young age, she decided to embark on a journey in 1924 to North Africa and then in 1925 to Asia. She stayed in India, Burma, Tibet, the Indochinese peninsula, and the Far East. Throughout these travels, she continued to paint the sights and people she encountered.
