Van Beers studied at the Academy in Antwerp. In 1873, he undertook a trip to London with Alexandre Struys.
In 1878, Van Beers went to Paris where he worked in the studio of Alfred Stevens. Between 1879 and 1881, sculptor Jef Lambeaux stayed with Van Beers in Paris.
By 1884, he was living 15 Impasse Hélène, Avenue de Clichy in Paris. Van Beers gradually belonged to the fashionable circles in Paris.
