Flemish school circa 1630 in the circle of Frans FRANCKEN (1581-1642).
The scene of the Magi, laying down their royal attributes on the ground before bowing before the Child in Glory, is a sweet one.
While all religious iconography is imbued with hope and love, representations of the Passion - Christ in Bindings, Ecce Homo, Christ at the Column, Carrying of the Cross, Crucifixion and Descent from the Cross - express poignant sorrow, and the Nativity scenes are preserved here.
Our oil on canvas is in fine condition and comes from the Foinet collection.
It is presented in an elegant gilded and carved wooden frame.
    Dimensions 65.5 cm x 50 cm
    Appraised by René Millet
