Here is a superb oil on canvas of the classical French school of the 19th century, Mary admiring the baby Jesus in the presence of St John the Baptist.
Signed by Louis ROBIN and dated 1867 in the lower right corner. Dimensions out of frame 62,3 x 78,5 cm and 85 x 102,5 cm with its beautiful frame.
ROBIN Louis was born in 1845 in Villefranche-sur-Saône (Rhône), a student of the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Lyon and then in Paris. He worked in particular with the great Gérôme, whose influence is very classical, marked by gentleness and femininity. This painting was exhibited at the Salon des Arts de Lyon in 1867.
