A student of Othon Friesz at the Académie de la Grande chaumière (1918-1920), Émile Sabouraud became a member of the Groupe du Pré-Saint-Gervais. He exhibits at the Salon des indépendants, the Salon des Tuileries and the Salon d'automne.
In Algiers, he was a resident at the Villa Abd-el-Tif in 1935 and 1936. On his return to France, he joined the Peintres de la réalité poétique.
