An antique biscuit porcelain plaque - "L'essai du corset" -
Trying on the corset. This image is taken from the engraving by Antoine Francis Dennel published in 1788 after the painting by Pierre Alexandre Wille. The reverse is stamped importé - I believe this was manufactured in Germany circa 1890 - 1900. One of two panels I currently have for sale - please see last photo.
An example of this engraving is in the British Museum London.
