Large Parisian porcelain dinner service. Polychrome decoration featuring barbel fish and gold fillet work. Louis XVI period, late 18th century. Unsigned; it is not easy to identify the manufactory that produced this service. It is likely Locré or a similar manufactory.

All pieces bear a château mark on the underside: the monogram “LV” in iron red or manganese black, representing the Château de La Verdière in the Var, the largest château in Provence. In the 18th century, it was owned by the de Forbin family, a powerful aristocratic family of that era. Our set was the castle’s everyday service during that period.

It consists of 58 pieces:
- 24 dinner plates (24.5 cm)
- 2 large round platters (34.3 cm)
- 4 round serving dishes (30 cm)
- 1 deep bowl (21 cm)
- 1 pot-au-feu soup tureen with a grenade-shaped lid handle, complete with its lid frame.

Provenance: Château de la Verdière, Var

A beautiful set, fairly complete. It is in good overall condition, with some wear to the gilding. There is a chip on the base of the soup tureen.
