Beautiful collector's plate featuring a handful of hazelnuts au naturel, some with open shells, some decorated on a white background, the plate encircled by a wide gold filet burnished with agate. Underneath, it bears the signature of Manufacture Darte Frères in Paris, in iron red. Empire period.

The Darte factory was founded in 1795, with a kiln on rue de Charonne and a store in the Palais Royal. In 1804, the Manufacture became Darte Frères. In 1809, under the Empire, it came under the protection of S.A.I. Madame Mère de S.M. L'Empereur et Roi. Under the Restoration, it continued to operate until 1828.
