Large Empire-style breakfast cup and saucer made of gilded Parisian porcelain, decorated with gold fillets, palmette friezes, poppies, and mushrooms. Beautiful matte and glossy gilding to simulate a three-dimensional effect. The handle is adorned with a lotus leaf.
Empire Restoration period, early 19th century, circa 1815–1820.
Our cup is a rare large-format piece whose capacity makes it suitable for use as a breakfast cup today in the 21st century (a photo shows a size comparison with a coffee cup).
The set is in very good condition. The gilding is fresh, with some wear on the rim of the saucer; no chips or cracks.
