Set of 6 porcelain dinner plates from Paris, Manufacture de Monsieur, le Comte de Provence. Polychrome decoration of flowers and gilded fillet. Louis XVI period after 1787.
5 pieces bear the letter M for his title Monsieur, frère du Roi and one the monogram LSX in iron red for Louis Stanislas Xavier, Comte de Provence, brother of King Louis XVI and future Louis XVIII.

The Manufacture de Clignancourt, located in Montmartre, was under the protection of the Comte de Provence and was named Manufacture de Monsieur. It specialized in luxury products, in direct competition with the Manufacture de Sèvres.
It wasn't until 1787 that the Manufacture de Clignancourt enjoyed the same privileges as Sèvres, and was able to use polychrome and gold. Our service therefore dates from the years 1787-1789, before the disappearance of the privileges.

Manufacture de Clignancourt products are very rare on the collectors' market. Beautiful, well-preserved polychromy, some wear to the gilding and a few minor accidents.
