This delightful German porcelain jug is painted on both sides, on the body and on the lid, inside cartouches, with genre scenes in violet monochrome. On one side of the body, a rider accompanied by a valet and two dogs are depicted on a wooded landscape with a temple-like structure, while on the other, it may be a return from the hunt, On the right is a large Medici vase, supported by a wall carved in bas-relief. The cover is painted with more modest scenes: on one side, a man is playing with his dog on the floor; on the other, a woman sits with her child on her lap, while her husband appears to be waiting for them. The medallions are surrounded by a frieze of ovals between two gilded fillets and edged all around with polychrome flower bouquets, the body is strewn here and there with small bouquets and the neck and handle are enhanced with gold. The fretel is in the shape of a blossoming bud, the beak is molded with small golden petals and the handle attachment is adorned with flowers and leaves in relief.
There is a tiny chip on the fretel.
The mark with the two crossed swords accompanied by a star is that of Meïssen during the Marcolini period.
Last quarter of the 18th century.
    Height 25 cm.
