Beautiful cup from the Manufacture du Duc d'Angoulême with the red signature with the letters AG crowned but not circled from the Dihl and Guerhard period 1781 -1793.
This pedestal mug is very elegant and meticulously crafted.
The dominant color, moss green, is enlivened on both the cup and saucer by mat gold foliage. Conversely, the cup handle, pedestal and drinking bowl are adorned with rich, bright gold. This double work on the gold attests to the care taken in the creation of the piece.
The pure white interior of the cup is highlighted by a garland of gilded foliage.
The front, opposite the handle, is decorated with a large cartouche of brightly-colored flowers, including a pink peony, which also appears on the two different cartouches of the saucer.
The signature is affixed to both pieces, and the saucer reveals a single small golden flower underneath.
Dimensions: overall height 7.5 cm, cup to lip 8.5 cm, saucer diameter 14.5 cm.
Pieces from this period are rare. This beautiful set will happily join another cup of a similar tone or a selfie from the same manufacture.
