China for the European market, late 18th century, Qianlong period: oval vegetable dish with contoured edges, decorated in blue under the cover of a lively lake landscape; the fretel in the shape of an artichoke, the sockets imitating intertwined branches.

The decoration of the lid is reproduced inside the vegetable dish; the dimensions of the vegetable bowl (excluding side sockets) are 28x21.5cm, the height including lid and fretel is approximately 15cm.

Very good condition, a tiny old chip at the base of one of the side sockets.

A label remaining inside the lid tells us that the object was purchased from the gallery of the antique dealer Alexandre Popoff (1885-1964), located at 48 rue Cambon in Paris until 1938. Specialized in Art Russian and porcelain, Alexandre Popoff was an important player in the art market in Paris, and close to the painter Alexandre Serebriakoff (1907-1994) who executed several views of Alexandre Popoff's apartment in 1945.
