Empire-period milk jug and small coffee pot in white and gold Paris porcelain, early 19th century circa 1805. Elegant model with double filet gilded in fine gold, signed Halley in gold under the base.
The following information on this factory is taken from the book La porcelaine à Paris sous le Consulat et l'Empire by Régine de Plinval de Guillebon: Charles Halley began his career as an earthenware maker on rue Montmartre in Paris. His name appears in almanacs as early as 1793. In 1803, he is mentioned in a notarial deed as an earthenware maker and porcelain merchant. His factory decorated porcelain whites from the Locré, Nast and Deuster factories. In 1811, Charles Halley united his daughter with the Lebon son, a crystal, earthenware and porcelain merchant, uniting the two businesses to create the Halley Lebon brand, in use from this period onwards. Our mug therefore dates from before this period, during the Empire.
Our coffee pot is in perfect, near-new condition. No damage, very fresh gilding.
