    Jean Austruy (1910 -1990)
A graduate of the School of Decorative Arts and Fine Arts in Paris, Jean Austruy settled in Saint-Marcellin in Isère, and taught drawing for nine years in this town as well as at the Ecole des Beaux- arts and Industrial Arts in Grenoble. At the same time, he began making ceramics first in his garage, then in a workshop that he had built in 1947 in order to increase his production, as demand was high after the war. His wife Jacqueline, also a Fine Arts graduate, helps him in his production. They hire employees and focus on the quality of their production. Sandstone appeared around the 1970s.
