*Menelaus, King of Sparta, was a major figure in the legendary Trojan War, which he waged to recover his wife Helen, kidnapped by the Trojan prince Paris. Our bust is a bronze casting based on the Pelenistic marble of Pasquino (3rd century BC). The Lacedemonian warrior is depicted wearing a helmet richly decorated with animal figures and a mythological scene.
