INRI gilded bronze crucifix signed Maurice Frécourt (1890-1961) Art Deco

Faith frozen in the nobility of gilded bronze and in the days of Art Deco.

Created by Maurice Frécourt (1890-1961), a sculptor and bronze-maker who graduated from the Beaux Arts de Paris in 1920, he is recognized in the art world as an excellent sculptor, particularly of the Art Deco period, from which this crucifix comes. It is signed on the lower edge.

The Art Deco period (1910-1939) was a period of design, with themes inspired by nature, in sophisticated, harmonious geometric forms.

This crucifix is a perfect example: Jesus is depicted as organic, natural and classical, with the crown of thorns, looking up to heaven. The cross, on the other hand, is entirely geometric, with cut-off sides. The ingenuity of this design lies in the way several crosses are superimposed in a single one, with relief.

The patina is very well preserved, with no signs of wear. This crucifix has stood the test of time in the hands of a devout family, who have preserved it from damage. Its golden patina is as flamboyant as in the early days, perfect as a gift for a believer or collector of bronze objets d'art.

Lovers of devotional objects & Bronze crucifixes from the Art Deco period, don't hesitate! Adopt this crucifix by Maurice Frécourt today.
