Born in Toulon on July 26, 1936, he attended the town's Beaux-Arts school and began painting in 1954. A graduate of the Croix d'Or des Arts, he exhibited in Paris, the United Kingdom and Japan. The artist has taken part in numerous charity sales. Creator of the Raimu statue inaugurated on November 23, 1996 in Toulon's Place Victor Hugo, he donated the model to the Raimu Museum in Gogolin (Var). Several works have been acquired by the Indonesian Consulate, as well as by French museums. Winner of more than eighteen international prizes, Louis Arride is a juror for painting and sculpture competitions in the PACA region.

His work has been featured in numerous media. Heir to the Provençal tradition as well as the Nabis, this painter, who loudly proclaims his Toulon roots, has built up an international reputation. Although his work travels far and wide, our man is rather sedentary. From his studio in Le Revest (Var), the artist finds it hard to leave his eternal Provence. Louis Arride draws inspiration from his surroundings to constantly find new techniques of pictorial expression. An artist of panache, where only the real counts, free and proud, draped in a dignity that honors him, by his magical light and the fecundity of his creative flow, his painting surprises us where we least expect it. At the crossroads of Fauvism and Expressionism mixed with the new primitivism, his work captures the essence of the Provence that has always inspired him.
