Large framed ivory "Christ de fond de lit" from the Louis XIV or Regency period - early 18th century. This is a large model, both for the frame and for the Christ himself.

A fine Dieppe production, the Christ is finely sculpted, with veins on the arms and teeth in the open mouth. The Louis XIV period frame is in high relief, richly carved and gilded with gold leaf (original gilding from 300 years ago, very well preserved). The bottom of the frame is covered with Louis XV-style silk.

All in excellent condition, including Christ's fingers, which remain intact. The frame is in excellent condition and has been cleaned by our gilder.
