Bust or torso of Venus de Knidos classic plaster sculpture from the 20th century

A true classic of Greek Antiquity, this bust represents the torso of Aphrodite of Knidos, by Praxiteles in the 5th or 4th century BC.

A true jewel of Greek craftsmanship and sculpture, Aphrodite has never ceased to be revisited, sculpted and magnified. The goddess of love aroused the interest of the artists of her time for temples, municipalities & wealthy owners.

In the end, it was only under Praxiteles' chisel strokes that a posture was defined, a form that would follow her forever! She was praised by many of her contemporaries, including Pliny the Elder.

The poetry of this modern plaster sculpture, dating from the 20th century, is that only the torso has been preserved. Indeed, we don't know what the original looked like, apart from the torso, with the movements of the arms, legs and head changing according to the replicas.
