Nice proof in pewter representing the nymph Syrinx charming Pan, stamped and signed Georges Van de Voorde (1878-1970).
Belgian eclectic sculptor, Georges Van de Voorde was a student at the academy of Kortrijk and then became professor and director of the academy of Decorative Arts in Molenbeek (Brussels).
"The Fountain" is a poetic work featuring Syrinx, the Nymph in love with Pan, god of nature, here represented by a bust. Syrinx, lightly clothed, her coiffed curls surrounding her smiling face, tickles the beard of Pan.
The fountain seems to be filled with water and reflects the scene through the use of a mirror. It is surrounded by vegetation and finely chiseled birds.
This large pewter sculpture will delight by its delicacy and the harmony that emanates from it.
