An amusing sculpture of a Ukrainian bibliophile/bookworm.
Standing in front of an illuminated lantern, he reads a book, loaded with other books in his pockets, his bag between his legs, standing on books and the base serving as a bookcase with other books and a jug.
Finely carved, in very good original condition, with no missing parts and a beautiful original patina.
Signed: W. Orysik, a sculptor originally from the Ukraine, who worked in Wertheim, Germany, around 1940-1945.
