Italian work from the late 17th or early 18th century. Our two almost identical busts form a fine pair in carved, polychromed and gilded wood. At their center is a glazed cartouche honoring a rare ex-ossibus relic of St. John the Baptist for one, and a relic of St. Francis (Francis in Italian) for the other.
On the back, access to these reliquary niches is protected by three wax seals.
