I offer for sale, this beautiful armchair with cabriolet back in natural wood of Louis XV period stamped by Mathieu Bauve in perfect condition. It rests on 4 cambered legs connected by 4 belts of angular shape. This shape is also taken by the armrests and the backrest.
This elegant seat is covered with a quality wool velvet in old tobacco colors.
It is stamped by the Parisian master cabinetmaker Mathieu Bauve who was active in Paris between 1754 and 1786, first on rue de Cléry at the "Saint-Esprit" and then at the end of his career in another workshop. His work was continued by his wife, who notably provided the Château de St Cloud near Paris with seats when it was bought by the Crown for the use of Queen Marie-Antoinette. During the reign of King Louis XV, Mathieu Bauve was renowned for the virtuosity and quality of his productions which seduced the Marquise de Pompadour.
